came out yesterday, and it’s about what we can learn from the moral and literary failings of Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn and James Baldwin. I used to re-publish my Quillette pieces here a few months after they come out, but they recently changed their republishing policies — and I think that was smart, because Quillette has a substack now, too! There's no need for so many duplicates of the same essays. This does mean you'll have to subcribe to Quillette to read past the paywall, but given that it's one of the best magazines around, then I hope this forces your hand if you haven't already subscribed.
